There are 2 options to buy STIB/MIVB tickets:

  1. In the Skipr app (you need a MOBIB card to do this)
  2. Contactless at a validator in a metro station, bus or tram (you need a physical Skipr card)

1. In the Skipr app

You can buy STIB/MIVB tickets directly in the Skipr app: scroll down on the home screen to the "Buy a ticket" section and then on "STIB/MIVB".

You'll first have to add your MOBIB card number.

💡 Your MOBIB card number (19 digits) is displayed here, depending on if it's a Basic or a Personal MOBIB card. These are the only 2 types of MOBIB cards that can be added.

You will then be able to buy the tickets you need:

Once you’ve purchased your tickets via the Skipr app, you'll be able to transfer these onto your MOBIB card and use them.

ℹ️ Some important notes:
  • When using the metro, the purchased tickets will be usable 24 hours after purchase. Simply pass your MOBIB card on to the gates' validators in metro stations to open them.

  • When using trams or buses, it can take up to 96 hours before the purchased tickets are available at bus and tram validators. Simply pass your MOBIB card on to the validators.

If you wish to use them sooner, use a GO vending machine to transfer your tickets onto your card, the earliest 24 hours after having purchased them through the Skipr app.

💡 Skipr is not able to speed up this process as it's determined by STIB/MIVB

2. Contactless at a validator in a metro station, bus or tram

Pass your Skipr card on the validators for contactless payment (these are not the same as the red validators). The price for 1 ticket will be the same.

💡 In order for your contactless payment function to be active, you need to have done a normal payment in the past (inserting your card in a payment terminal and confirming with your PIN code).
